How to get John Mayer’s first autographed Topps baseball card

Fairfield native John Mayer took to the diamond of Citi Field on Tuesday to throw the ceremonial first pitch ahead of the Mets win against the Diamondbacks.

Donning a custom jersey with his name emblazoned across the back with the number “25,” Mayer threw the pitch to Mets’ shortstop Francisco Lindor, who he praised in an Instagram post last year at the end of the season.

“Thank you Francisco Lindor. Thank you New York Mets. You never know when you’re going to find a new source of inspiration, and Francisco became that inspiration for me this year,” Mayer said in the post. “You could see the dedication in his eyes, in his plays – you could even see it in his strikeouts; it wasn’t a case of ‘couldn’t,’ only ‘didn’t that time.'”

Now, the moment of Lindor and Mayer greeting each other after the pitch has been immortalized in a Topps baseball card, which the company is saying is Mayer’s “first official trading card.”

The card is only available to purchase until 6:30 p.m. EST on Friday, May 2 on the Topps website. The card is available to purchase for $11.99. There are also bundle deals: five cards for $49.99, 10 cards for $89.99 and 20 cards for $169.99.

Topps said that anyone who purchases the base card from them has the chance to receive a “rare” dual autograph card with both Mayer and Lindor’s signatures. Orders begin shipping out in 10-15 business days.
