Card Gallery: SP Authentic NCAA Football?

Passionate football card collector Sergio Dubois (beckett user ID Sensei322) brought to our attention last night his fascinating discovery of several gorgeous card images conceivably hailing from an as-yet-unreleased college-football-focused SP Authentic product.

The images provide a generation-spanning visual feast of 2010 rookies and legendary NFL Hall of Famers all decked out in their Saturday best. The result is a stunning display of eye candy steeped in SP Authentic’s aesthetically pleasing design principles.

No word from Upper Deck officials on when — or even if — this product will be released.

OK, so Dubois didn’t necessarily “discover” these card images. He used his own considerable creative wizardry and product development acumen to design them himself on the computer; consider it fantasy football for the card collector.

“I thought it might be fun to speculate as to what an NCAA version of SPA would look like, since UD lost the NFL license and will only have collegiate and players licenses in 2010,” Dubois said via a message board post that has generated quite the traffic jam. “I initially threw a Tim Tebow card together because he is the most sought after player in the 2010 draft. Due to the tremendous feedback I received, I decided to make a couple of more 2010 cards of rookie players I think are ‘hot’ in our hobby right now.”

Great work, Sergio. Your handiwork is sure to have collectors wondering “what if”for a long, long time.
